Lebanese Christians & Muslims Gather Together to Share in Ramadan Iftar

DEARBORN - Lebanese Business, Civic, Media and Religious leaders joined together last night to share in a ceremonial Iftar - the daily meal in which Muslims break their sunrise-to-sunset fast during the holy month of Ramadan. The event was hosted by leaders of The Movement for Lebanon's Future and under the auspices of esteemed cleric Imam Mohamad Mardini of the American Muslim Center.
Over 300 people filled the Byblos Banquet Center's Grand Ballroom with special guests at the event that included: Lebanese American Chamber of Commerce CEO John Akouri, United Lebanese Amercian Federation President Walid Mourad, Michigan District Court Judge Honorable David Turfe, and Founder of hirelebanese.com Rabih Mogharbel, who was in town from Virginia.
As a Member of the Farmington Hills City Council, Akouri hosted an Iftar at the seat of municipal government in the council chambers of City Hall for the first time ever in 2003. The event offered a unique opportunity for people of all faiths to reaffirm their common brotherhood as human beings.
